Mama bird is gumpaste base with fondant colors on top. Egg and leaves are also fondant. Cake surrounded by pirouettes. Ribbon is fabric. Inspired by shower invitation above.

Whale Shark Cake
This was a birthday cake for Zeb who is amazed by God's creation - the Whale Shark! Thank you Shannon, as always, for this brilliant montage! (See her beautiful work at http://www.blu-bambu.com/ ). I love having the birthday boy in the picture. Chocolate cake, vanilla buttercream "painted" with variations of blue color gel. All see creatures piped on the sides are buttercream and the shells are fondant. Whale shark is shaped crispy rice treats (thank you, Cameron!) covered in fondant and "painted" with color gel and silver pearl dust. White caps are royal icing.

Hair Stylist Cake
This was a really fun cake. Our dear friend Shannon not only takes beautiful photography (as evidenced above), but is also a very talented hair stylist. Some of her friends got together a "Thank You, Shannon" party to thank her for her generosity of time and talent. We (my girls and I) found this piece of clipart and it reminded us of something Shannon would appreciate. So, we made it into a cake! Of course it had to be her favorite flavors, chocolate cake and mocha buttercream. Cameron cut the artwork out of black-tinted chocolate clay and I placed it on a layer of white, green and marbled fondant. Cake is oval-shaped and the little sign (made by Greer) says, "Thank You, Shannon/We Love Your Clip Art".

Rebecca's Teacup cake
I found a great opportunity to try my hand at a gumpaste teacup (been wanting to try this for a while :) This was for my friend Rebecca who likes "having tea" as much as I do. I thought I'd add to her already overflowing assortment of blue and white teacups. Chocolate cake and vanilla buttercream. Gumpaste teacup painted with Royal Blue color gel. Yellow rose - straight from God's beautiful canvas.

Homewood Graduation Cake - 2010
I came up with this design while thinking how important "home" is to homeschooling. God led me to these verses (on the grad. cap), Deut. 11:18-19, which seemed to bring it all together.
They anticipated 400 guests, so this was the centerpiece cake and they had store-bought satellite cakes to serve. White Almond Sour Cream cake and vanilla buttercream icing. All decor is fondant except the grad. cap which is gumpaste and windows which are kneaded gumdrops. Grass is green-tinted buttercream and "mulch" is crushed Oreos.
Thanks once again to my sweet girls for helping with this one.

Margot's Star Cake
Margot did this cake to complete her Cake Decorating badge for American Heritage Girls. She was required to cut a cake into a shape and decorate it. She entered this in the dessert auction at their end-of-year ceremony to help raise money for the troop. I'm so proud of your diligence and hard work - this is a terrific cake!

Faith Co-op Auction Cakes
I had the pleasure of teaching a Basic Cooking/Cake Decorating class in a local homeschool co-op this year. The students made their final semester presentation cakes and gave them for auction to raise money for the co-op and the church which hosts it. I am so proud of them and their hard work. Following are their cakes:
Haley's Soccer Cake
Caitlyn's Cinderella Cake
Sara's and Lauren's Hello Kitty Cake
Christina's and Grace's Spring Blooms Cake
Kristen's Snoopy's Dreams Cake
Kevin's Jeep Cake
Kaleb's Dubble Bubble Cake
