Rebecca's Teacup cake

I found a great opportunity to try my hand at a gumpaste teacup (been wanting to try this for a while :) This was for my friend Rebecca who likes "having tea" as much as I do. I thought I'd add to her already overflowing assortment of blue and white teacups. Chocolate cake and vanilla buttercream. Gumpaste teacup painted with Royal Blue color gel. Yellow rose - straight from God's beautiful canvas.

Homewood Graduation Cake - 2010

I came up with this design while thinking how important "home" is to homeschooling. God led me to these verses (on the grad. cap), Deut. 11:18-19, which seemed to bring it all together.

They anticipated 400 guests, so this was the centerpiece cake and they had store-bought satellite cakes to serve. White Almond Sour Cream cake and vanilla buttercream icing. All decor is fondant except the grad. cap which is gumpaste and windows which are kneaded gumdrops. Grass is green-tinted buttercream and "mulch" is crushed Oreos.

Thanks once again to my sweet girls for helping with this one.

James' Graduation Cake

James' MBA graduation. Though Alyssa and Amanda adorn it beautifully, I still need a little practice at this one. My first attempt at a "book" cake and I didn't have as much time to spend as I needed. Thank you, Cameron, for creating the pipe from modeling chocolate.

Barrett's Bear Cake(s)

Chocolate cake(s), vanilla buttercream, bear-modeling chocolate and all other decor - fondant.

Sarah's Black, White & Pink Cake

Sarah P. completed her Cake Decorating badge with this adorable two-tier cake. She entered it in the dessert auction at the end-of-year ceremony to help raise money for the American Heritage Girls troop. I'm so proud of your hard work, Sarah! You did an awesome job!

Margot's Star Cake

Margot did this cake to complete her Cake Decorating badge for American Heritage Girls. She was required to cut a cake into a shape and decorate it. She entered this in the dessert auction at their end-of-year ceremony to help raise money for the troop. I'm so proud of your diligence and hard work - this is a terrific cake!
