Elvin Warrior Shield

For Marcus' b'day. Lessons learned from this one. Gumpaste needs a lot longer to dry for something this large. Since the shield had some drooping and cracking problems, we just consider it a "relic" shield - Ha! Also, we have a new favorite frosting thanks to Marcus. Chocolate cake (underneath shield) and cupcakes frosted with Mocha buttercream.

Shield is all gumpaste and "aged" with food coloring and gold pearl dust. Terri - cake and shield; Cameron - "aging effect". Thanks to Shannon for this incredible photo montage. (Also, if you're wondering, that writing is Marcus' name in the Elvish alphabet in mocha buttercream.)

Thanks so much Terri and Cameron for making my favorite birthday cake EVER! I love the authentic "battle damage". ;) Professor Tolkien would have approved.

It's beautiful to look at and the Mocha frosting is so YUM!
