This was for Hannah M.'s LOTR b'day. It was so much fun to do and yes, there actually is a cake under there! We used a rectangular-shaped double layer white cake/bc icing, the side of which is the front of the "hole". Then (bless her heart), our Greer-girl made several batches of rice krispie treats and Cameron molded it on top of the cake to make the shape of "the hill". All of the stones, door and topiaries are fondant. (The door opened to reveal a secret message to the birthday girl - "Happy Birthday Hannah" (pic 2) which she opened as we sang.) For the windows we kneaded Dots (gumdrops) flat for the stained glass and piped buttercream for the "leaded" separation. Thanks to Cameron for the great stone wall and vines, gumdrop lanterns and lovely garden in front. Daddy helped with the flowers on the back. All of the rest is green buttercream piped on with a grass tip (boy did that come in handy!) Thanks to the M.'s for letting us celebrate with you and for your inspiring creativity.

I am still in awe and unable to cut the front. I truly think it will sit in my fridge for a while... maybe I'll just freeze it like you do for the top of wedding cakes...
You all are amazing and thank you SO much!
